Category Documents & Reports

Author(s) Kotlikoff, Laurence J.; Marx, Ben; Rizzo, Pietro

Publisher Name National Center for Policy Analysis

Publication Date August 2007

Abstract This study examines the degree to which today’s workers depend on Social Security to maintain their living standards in retirement. It also shows how they would be affected by the disappearance or reduction of projected Social Security benefits, and how they would change their behavior in response. The study focuses on discretionary consumption spending — or discretionary income — as a measure of living standards.
