IOA Learning is a dynamic new educational program of the UNC
Institute on Aging. It combines quality educational materials
in gerontology with sophisticated web-based technologies. IOA
Learning is a source of interdisciplinary, multimedia learning
modules and resources that can be used in many different settings
and by many different people.
The modules in IOA Learning are intended to be self-paced,
but can also be used in group settings to stimulate discussion.
The primary target audience is faculty and students in higher
education, but many others may find the information useful.
IOA Learning shares its resources broadly, free of cost to users.
The current version of IOA Learning represents the first phase
of the project, which was funded in 2000-2001 with a Distance
Technology grant from the Provost's Office at UNC
Chapel Hill. We hope to expand the site and develop more
modules by seeking further funding.
The first phase of IOA Learning was developed by a planning
committee of faculty who identified and prioritized topic areas,
and by groups of faculty and staff who developed the content
and created the technological output.
