Laura Linnan's primary area of research expertise is the prevention and control of chronic diseases, especially cancer, with a concentration on applied research efforts in worksites and other community-based settings. Her work focuses on hard-to- reach audiences, organizational change, and integrated approaches to research design and intervention. She has developed interventions to increase participation among minorities and women in worksite health promotion programs and new tools to measure participatory strategies and health-related norms among defined populations. She embraces both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches in the planning, delivery and evaluation of her community-based intervention studies on a wide range of health and social problems. Dr. Linnan has a joint appointment at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
