Joanne Earp is Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education in the School of Public Health and Faculty Associate in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a medical sociologist she is committed to understanding and intervening in the social and behavioral determinants of public health problems, particularly in the area of breast cancer screening and early detection and with respect to adherence to treatment and reduction of risky sexual behaviors of people living with HIV. She teaches doctoral students research manuscript writing and leads a patient advocacy course on healthcare quality.
