Mission/Description

The Division of Hematology/Oncology offers broad expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of blood disorders and malignant diseases. Faculty participate in specialized patient care and research programs in the areas of thrombosis, bleeding disorders, sickle cell anemia, hematologic malignancies, and bone marrow transplantation. In association with other members of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, specialized interdisciplinary clinics and conferences are held weekly in the areas of breast cancer, thoracic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, sarcoma, neuro-oncology, melanoma, and head and neck malignancies. Centers which are central to implementing the patient care and research missions of the Division include the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the foremost cancer research centers in the country, and the nationally recognized Hemostasis and Thrombosis, Hemophilia, and Sickle Cell Centers.
